It's a dog's life! Marley's long weekend at K9 Walkies Doggy Hotel.

Marley our very dear grand fur baby is staying with us from Friday to Monday this weekend. She is a very excitable 3 year old Miniature Schnauzer who I think, feels like a greyhound the way she runs round our garden.

As she is so excitable, I thought it might be a good chance to try a bit of training to calm her down. I'm pleased to say that she has responded well, letting me put her harness and lead on in a much calmer manner. It took a lot of patience as she wanted to keep challenging me but approaching with calmness the perseverance paid off. She can also get very excited in the car so we worked on this too, with the help of her weighted quilt. There is still some work to be done but she was much calmer than usual and once we got out of the car she walked nicely to heel.

So, where did we go? This weekend we did a walk along the fire tracks next to Sturt gorge and a lovely beach walk at Port Noarlunga. Marley really enjoyed running around on the flexi lead, paddling in the sea and sniffing sea weed, urgh! She also met a few play mates on the way. It still amazes me that we have such wonderful beaches here is SA and even at the weekend you hardly see anyone around. It felt like we had the beach to ourselves, we are so lucky to live in such a beautiful place. What a great way to spend the weekend.
