K9 Walkies took some time out for a wonderful restful time at McLaren Flat this weekend. The accommodation at Bundaleer Cottage is superb! It has all the amenities you can think of, 2 large bedrooms with en-suites and a huge living area that can easily serve 4 people. Providing complimentary cheese platter, bottle of wine and breakfast is all part of the deal. The property is very high standard which came highly recommended to us by our daughter.

At the back of the property there is a small back garden with decking which overlooks vineyards and paddocks. The horses are very friendly, they all came to say hello to us at some point over the weekend. Yes, I'm a horse whisperer too!

Beresford wines and The Currant Shed are both within walking distance (about 10 mins) so you can leave the car behind and have a nice relaxing drink without worrying about getting transportation.

What has this got to do with dogs you might ask? Well, a huge plus point for this accommodation is that they will allow you to take your dog too, unusual for such a high standard of property! Just let them know that you are taking your dog and they provide a bed and bowls.

If however, you would prefer to take a break on your own, you have the option to bring your dog to K9 Walkies Doggy Hotel. Boarding your dog can be a very stressful time if you don't get things right. We advise the best course of action is to bring your dog for a meet and greet in the first instance. Next you can trial your dog at the hotel for one or two nights to see if they like our atmosphere before booking your longer break. By doing this, when your dog comes for longer stays they will already be used to us and also be assured that you, their owner will be coming back for them.

At K9 Walkies, we don’t house other pets, this means that your dog gets our full attention; plenty of time for a daily walk, exercise in the garden and play time. We can also teach your dog tricks and basic commands, all of which help to make walking your dog more pleasurable. Training your dog is good brain exercise and also helps to tire them out.

So what have we been doing to keep busy at K9 Walkies recently? With most of the borders being closed it has been quieter than planned but we still have our regular dogs to be walked during the week. On Friday we had the pleasure of walking George and Harry for the second time. George is an Australian Cattle Dog cross with a Kelpie, age 2 and Harry is a Collie cross with Kelpie, age 1. That's why we call them the Kelpie Cross Bros! They are both very lovable; George is pretty cool and very well behaved, whereas Harry is at that teenage tear away time of his life! Having said that, Harry is very intelligent and listens to everything I ask him to do. I’m looking forward to getting to know these bros better, I think they are real characters. Unfortunately, they didn't want to listen to me when I wanted to take their photo! They don't keep still for long so you have to be quick trying to get a shot in!

Thanks for reading
